At Esposito on Sherbrooke St. W., corner Wilson, there are always great prices every week. The previous person complaining of past due dates for specials is grossly exaggerating as most specials aren't on past due items, but on fresh every day items and only some rock bottom specials are on close-to due date items (like in most other stores). Getting in, one immediately feels at home. The store has this comfortable, no-nonsense feel of worn mom-and-pop general stores that many prefer to the cold, clinical atmosphere of most modern stores, that carry much higher prices. Somehow, getting in you know you could be making a great deal. Where else in Montreal are you going to find potatoes at 99c for a 10 lb bag ($1.49 recently for new potatoes), virgin olive oil for $3.99 a litre (last week), Mastro Genoa Salami at $14 a kilo (over $25 where I live), artichoke heart pieces at $1.49 a can instead of $2.89 and more elsewhere and rye bread at $1.59 (sometimes less) every few weeks whereas it is usually $2.89 and more I elsewhere? Contrarily to the previous person, when I come to Montreal, I make it a point to DRIVE there for my shopping. There is always something worth it. The lack of a dedicated parking space is a bit of a hindrance, but the side streets do have free parking and I never had to walk very far to the car. Bottom line? Great prices every week on different items. If you are in NDG, put it on your weekly shopping route. ..More Reviews
